“The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light”.
Matth.6:22
“Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your vision is clear, your whole body also is full of light. But when it is poor, your body is full of darkness”.
Luke 11:34
Our eyes are the entrance to our hearts and minds and, as such, they provide a doorway to our souls. When Yeshua referred to “good” eyes, He meant eyes that not only see well, but also perceive well. It is not only what we see, but how we perceive what we see that makes the difference between godliness and ungodliness, between light and darkness. Bad eyes lead to bad perception, but if our eyes are good, our whole person will be illuminated. If we are in a lighted room, we see everything clearly. We can move around obstacles and locate whatever we’re looking for but walking in darkness results in stumbling, falling, and groping for some secure thing to hang on to.
Our eyes can be used to see that which is good or evil, that which is beneficial or harmful, and the things we see and perceive affect our whole being. If we perceive goodness, that will radiate outward from within our hearts and minds. But if we allow our eyes to linger on evil, we are so affected by what we see that darkness actually begins to emanate from within and can corrupt us and those around us.
The iridology is a science that studies embryology, anatomy, physiology, photo-biochemistry and biophysics of the iris of the eye together with its color, structure and reflective changes during health and disease.
A baby's irises are often blue or grey at birth because they have very little or no melanin. Over the first 6 to 12 months, exposure to light stimulates the melanocytes to produce more melanin, which can cause the eyes to darken to their final colour, which is determined by genetics.
Some babies, particularly those with darker-skinned heritage, are born with brown or dark brown eyes because their melanocytes are already active.
The final eye colour depends on the amount of melanin produced, which is determined by the baby's inherited genes.
The colour change can be gradual. Most babies' eyes settle on a permanent colour between 6 to 9 months of age, but it can sometimes take up to three years.
The rarest eye colours are red and violet, which are primarily found in individuals with albinism. Excluding those affected by albinism, green and grey eyes are considered the most uncommon.
The iris color and structure are fully developed by age of 7.
The iris analysis at that age is advisable to identify various disease dispositions and creating diet and lifestyle plan preventing their clinical manifestation.
The iris size is 12 mm in diameter.
The eye colour may appear to change from brown to green due to lighting, pupil size, and surrounding colours, but a true, significant change can indicate a medical condition like a genetic disorder, disease, injury, or medication side effect, such as pigment dispersion syndrome. A lasting or sudden colour change warrants a visit to an iridologist and/or eye doctor to rule out any serious underlying health issues.
The way light reflects off your iris can make its colour seem different.
The pupil's size changes in response to light and emotions, which can make the iris appear to expand or contract, changing the perceived colour.
The colours of the clothes or makeup can influence how the eye colour appears.
Many people are born with lighter eyes that may darken over the first few years of life.
While less common in adulthood, a gradual loss of pigment in the iris can occur with age, potentially making eyes appear lighter.
Small brown spots (freckles) or larger dark growths (nevi) can appear on the iris, often due to sun exposure. These psoric spots in iridology indicating psoric miasm, sluggish function of the related organ, drug deposits, part of cancer disposition signs/constellations, injury, etc.
Pigment dispersion syndrome causes pigment to be lost from the iris, leading to thinning and potential eye colour changes.
A lasting colour change can be a sign of an underlying condition, such as neurofibromatosis (which causes Lisch nodules) or Wilson’s disease (greenish-brown or golden-brown Keyser-Fleisher corneal ring indicating copper toxicity).
Certain medications and metals (tetracyclines, quinine, bromides, iodides, silver, mercury, lead, cadmium, aluminium, etc.) can cause side effects that affect eye colour.
Trauma to the eye can also lead to changes in colour.
Each iris contains more than 28 000 nerve endings.
The iris is connected to every organ and tissue via the brain and nervous system. The iris fibers receive nerve impulses through the optic nerve, optic thalami and spinal cord. Both sympathetic and parasympathetic branch of the autonomic nervous system innervate the iris.
All iris fibers are tiny capillaries! The iris is a miniature microcirculation system! The quality of blood and lymph can be seen directly!
We could observe what is happening in our blood stream and lymphatic flow long before the disease is clinically manifested. We could understand how the distress, global pollution, endogenous intoxication (toxic waste from an imbalanced metabolism), viral/bacterial/fungal/parasitic infections, recreational/prescription drugs, alcohol, smoking, sugar, refined foods, coffee, tea, coke, etc. affect the individual.
The iris is one of the most amazing body self-regulatory systems. The iris signs appear because of the interaction between the tissue of the iris and the light. Through absorbing light into the crypts and lacunae it stimulates the metabolism in the sluggish or chronically diseased organs, tissues and glands. On the opposite, through blocking the light with various pigmentations, it slows down the metabolism in the over active organs, tissues and glands, thus creating a fine balance facilitating optimal health.
The pupil and the iris not only absorb light but they also emit light. The spectrum of the emitted light depends on the clarity of mind and the purity of heart.
The eye is an extension of the brain. The brain is holographic. Each part of the brain reflects the whole brain.
The eye projects holograms in the space depending on the thought pattern. These holograms affect positively (blessings, prayer, good wishes, etc.) or negatively (curse, envy, jealousy, bad wishes, etc.) people around us.
The iris is highly specific and unique. It carries more information than the sclera, pulse, face, tongue, ears, palms and soles. It could be used for a lie detector, access control, character/talents/career/sport/relationship guidance and proving fatherhood.
The iris reflects the interaction between the genetic heritage and lifestyle of the individual through constant changes.
We can only read and interpret about 10-15% of the information recorded in the iris at present.
There are many schools of iridology worldwide. They complement one another. Each one adds unique knowledge and different angles of looking into the iris.
The Rayid analysis discerns 4 fundamental iris patterns: jewel, flower, stream and shaker. They are linked to 4 distinctive personality types.
The iridology is a very useful tool to identify various disease dispositions in early stages. The iris signs appear 2 to 20 years before the manifestation of disease symptoms.
The cause of any disease is directly observed in the iris.
The effectiveness of any treatment could be assessed after 2-3 weeks.
The zones and sectors of the iris could be stimulated with a different color or laser to initiate healing in the related organ, tissue or body part.
Taking iris photographs every 6 – 12 months is very helpful for study purposes and following the healing progress after the treatment program.
It takes about 10 – 20 years to master iridology.
The most effective way to learn iridology is observing eyes every day using a magnifier with LED light 10x and drawing at least 500 pairs of irises in color.
An experienced iridologist will need 1-3 minutes to identify many conditions in the eyes.
Using slit lamp or iridoscope with a changeable magnification between 5 to 60x can assist tremendously in analyzing the bottom of defects/crypts/lacunae and different pigmentations.
The iridology has gone historically through 3 periods:
- Ancient iridology has begun to develop 5 000 B.C. in Egypt, Babylon, India and China.
- Medieval iridology - 16th to 19th
- Modern iridology – 20th century till now.
People have been always interested to look into the eyes since the beginning of the civilization. This has been a long experience of many generations. The eyes have always shown when the person is healthy or sick.
Some of these people that have been practicing natural medicine began to record the signs in the eyes. There were some inscriptions found on clay tablets made by Chaldeans referring to liver diseases and their iris signs.
The Egyptian healer El Ax left many metal tablets with color pictures of the eyes. The simple technology that he used is still not disclosed.
Iridology has spread to Babylon, China, Tibet and India.
The indigenous people of Africa have always looked into the eyes for various reasons. The child was tested whether he/she was telling the truth, the condition of the person during fever or any disease was assessed, the happiness or sadness were observed in the eyes, etc.
This is known as the first period of iridology.
The first book on iridology, “Chiromatica medica” was published in 1670 in Dresden, Germany by Dr Philippus Meyens.
The next iridology book was published in 1695 by Johann Eltzholtz.
Christian Haertels published his dissertation “The eye and its signs” in 1766 in Gottingen.
This was known as the second period of iridology.
The father of modern iridology is considered to be Dr Ignatz von Peczely (1826 – 1911) from Egervar, Hungary. He had an experience as 11 years old with an owl trapped in his garden. When he tried to free the owl his leg broke. Ignatz noticed that a vertical line appeared at 6 o’clock in the same side eye. This fact left a deep impression in boy’s mind.
Ignatz began to observe people’s eyes few years later. He was able to recognize various health problems. He was helping many people until 36 years old.
One day a man accused him of quackery although Ignatz recognized correctly many of his health problems. Then Ignatz applied for a medicine in Vienna and graduated at 41 years old. He was able to observe many patients’ eyes during his medical studies before and after autopsies. Then he created gradually a precise topographic chart of the iris. It showed the location of the vital organs and body parts. His iris chart topography is still unchanged today. All iris charts are based on his discoveries.
A Swedish reverend Nils Liljequist has discovered the relationship between various drugs and the discolorations that they cause in the iris.
He was treated with quinine and iodine applications for a year. His blue eyes turned to green with brown spots. He wrote a booklet describing his observations.
Pastor Immanuel Felke (1856 – 1926) from Germany has developed his own system of iris diagnosis and treatment procedures. He did not leave any records. Pastor Felke Institut in Germany has been training iridology students worldwide for many years.
Iridology reached America through the work of Dr Henry Lane (Lahn) in the beginning of 20th century. Dr Henry Lindlahr was one of his students. He continued as a pioneer to establish iridology in America. He published four volume book called “Natural Therapeutics” in 1913. This book is still used today as a cornerstone by students in naturopathy.
This was known as a third period of iridology.
Dr Bernard Jensen has studied iridology with Dr Lindlahr, Dr M Mc Lain, Dr Collins, Dr Haskel Kritzer and Dr Arnolds. He published two books in iridology in 1952 and 1982.
Ellen Tart Jensen, Dr Jensen’s daughter in law, has taken over his lifetime work after his transitioning in 2001. She has continued to educate many students in iridology and natural healing through various workshops and study materials. Her site www.ellenjensen.com has a lot of information about iridology and natural healing.
Other distinguished iridologists of 20th and 21st century are: Dr Josef Deck, Dr V L Ferrandiz, Dr T Kriege, Dr Leon Vanier, Dr Andre Roux, Dr Jausas, Dr I Angerer, Dr Rudolph Schnabel, Dr P J Thiel, Dr Franz Vida, Dr Walter Lang, Dr Alfred Maubach, Dr Willy Hauser, Dr Josef Karl, Dr Rudolf Stolz, Dorothy Hall, Farida Sharan, Dr Martin Filmer, Dr F I Romashov, Dr E S Velhover, Dr Ananin, Dr Konovalov, Dr Antonov, Petar Dimkov, Dr Andrej Petrov, Dr Gerkis, etc.
There are many others whose names are not mentioned.
The iridology has been approved by the Ministry of Health in Russia as a secondary diagnostic method since 1980.
Tremendous data information on iridology has been accumulated in Moscow and Kiev hospitals since 1967.
Many doctors and health practitioners in UK, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Israel, South Africa, etc. use the iridology in their practice.
There are many iridologists worldwide that contribute to the development of iridology. There are many schools. Each one adds new discoveries and interpretation of the iris signs. Studying all schools of iridology is crucial in order to see the whole picture from different aspects.
Cape Iridology Institute runs regular courses and congresses for practitioners. It is a part of Pastor Felke Iridology Institute in Germany. It provides the newest discoveries in iridology on a regular basis. It also supplies books on iridology.
The iris reveals the root cause of the disease symptoms. It gives us insight where to start the treatment. It confirms the regeneration or lack of in the affected tissues within 2-3 weeks. It gives us an inspiration to continue in the right direction until permanent healing is achieved. It teaches us how to maintain the healthy body, emotions and mind lifetime.
The iris of the eye reflects through its structure the genetics up to 4 generations back.
The right iris in men reflects mostly the genetics from the father’s side and the left iris reflects mostly the genetics from the mother’s side.
On the opposite, the right iris in women reflects mostly the genetics from the mother’s side and the left iris reflects mostly the genetics from the father’s side.
Each gland, organ and tissue is represented on the iris.
When the person is right-handed (left brain hemisphere dominant), the right iris reflects predominantly the right side of the body and the left iris reflects predominantly the left side of the body.
On the opposite, when the person is left-handed a lateralization of the signs could be observed (the right iris reflects signs from the left side of the body and the left iris reflects signs from the right side of the body).
About 1% of all irises are silent. They do not reflect any changes due to a defect in the neurotransmission somewhere in the body.
There are two fundamental colors of the iris - blue and brown.
The brown eyed people detoxify slower than blue eyed people.
The blue eyed people should do regularly kidney detoxification and brown eyed people – liver detoxification.
There are more than 65 iris charts.
85% of them are identical.
The iris chart is divided into zones and sectors.
There are two major zones: pupillary and ciliary.
Pupillary zone is a circle around the pupil that reflects the condition of the digestive system.
The ciliary zone occupies the rest of the iris and reflects all organs, glands and body parts.
The iridology is very reliable to determine the genetic strength of the body, mental/emotional stability and character, efficiency of adaptogenic mechanisms, condition of the central/autonomic nervous system, major blood vessels, spinal nerves, level of acidity and toxicity, immune system efficiency, mineral deficiencies, place and stage of inflammation, condition of the digestive system, presence or lack of healing, genetic metabolic type, microbiological terrain, etc.
The shape, tone and position of the pupil reflect the condition of the central and autonomous nervous system.
Each pupil should be perfectly round, pitch black, slightly off center towards the nose and opposite temple.
The flattening of the pupil reflects a central nervous system imbalance, under activity and slow function opposite to the flattening.
The oval pupils reflect imbalance of the organs that lie on the same line.
The pull out of the pupil reflects an autonomic nervous system imbalance of the organ opposite to it.
The pupil never lies.
It is much more reliable than a polygraph test.
Its shape, diameter and reaction reflect the emotional and mental state of the person.
The brain sector occupies 1/6 of the iris.
The iris signs are colorful, structural and reflective.
The yellow pigmentation is related to the kidneys and fungal overgrowth.
The orange pigmentation is related to the pancreas and cancer disposition.
The brown pigmentation is related to the liver and fungal overgrowth.
The gray pigmentation is related to an elevated uric acid and cholesterol.
The green pigmentation is related to a chronic bacterial infection.
The three main structural signs are: lacunae, crypts and defects.
The reflective signs are sun rays, adaptogenic rings, cholesterol arc/ring, skin ring, poor peripheral circulation, venous congestion, B3 bulge, brown ring, etc.
Any white sign in the blue eyes and light yellow sign in the brown eyes reflects an acute stage of inflammation, infection, over acidity, over activity, fast metabolism, fast oxidation, pain, healing, etc.
Any light gray sign in both brown and blue eyes reflects a sub-acute stage of inflammation.
Any dark gray sign in both brown and blue eyes reflects a chronic stage of inflammation, chronic infection, under acidity, under activity, slow metabolism, slow oxidation, nutritional deficiencies, etc.
Any black sign in both brown and blue eyes reflects a degenerative stage of inflammation like fibrosis, tumors, cysts, polyps, diverticuli, aneurysms, stones, amyloidosis, osteoarthritis, osteophytes, osteoporosis, gangrene, necrosis, abscess, TB caverns, emphysema, bronchiectasis, tabes dorsalis, syringomyelia, injuries, etc.

The iris signs should not be mistaken with iris malformations/diseases/injuries/operations.
A differential diagnosis should be made. Consulting with an optometrist/ophthalmologist would be needed in some cases.
An individualized treatment based on the iridology findings would lead to a profound healing in a few weeks or months. All health practitioners would be benefitted enormously by the use of iridology as a complementary diagnostic method.
